It’s time to dance!

Date: May 9, 2017 Author: Tony Bates Categories: Curriculum, Junior Syndicate, School Programmes, Senior Syndicate

A very warm welcome to Mark and Jack from ‘Dances For School’ who started teaching the children last week. This is a dance programme in which children develop social and movement skills through the experience of dance. By the end of this week, students have learned a wide variety of dance moves and participated in a range of physical activities, learning performance and creativity skills.

Parents are invited to a special performance on Friday 9 June. ?We have had to stagger the performances so that everyone can fit into the hall and still have a big enough ‘stage’ for the students to dance in. The timetable will be as follows:

1.00pm – 1.30pm Rakau-Nui perform

1.35pm – 2.05pm Uenuku perform

2.10pm – 2.40pm Rakau Iti perform

Here’s what the 2016 Rakau Nui students had to say about ‘Dance for Schools’:
[li]Great dance instructors[/li]
[li]Instructors modelled new moves and showed us how to make our moves better – they were always encouraging[/li]
[li]It’s ok to make mistakes[/li]
[li]We loved the choice of music and dance moves[/li]
[li]Step by step learning revisited in the very next lesson[/li]
[li]Dancing with our parents at the concert was so much FUN![/li]

Last year Dance for Schools filmed Paparangi students and families at the Dance Concert.
